Advertising, marketing and promoting a new product or business can be a mission in its own right, so before you undertake that mission, how about writing down what you want to achieve from your promotion and try to create a medical practice marketing plan which will be a great option compared to other online businesses which requires more funding, and what/who your target market is. Once you have this sussed, try working on some of the promotional methods below, read through them, pick one at first, research it, develop it and then implement it and see where it takes you.
TOP TIP: Don’t try more than one thing at once as you wont know which promotional/advertising method s working and which one is not!
So then you know who your target market is and where to reach them, but how do you go about reaching them, what media/channel will you use.
Here are a few examples of what you could use to your advantage.
Blogging – start your own blog on your business, products and services, or contribute to other say more well known blogs to get your name and business out there a bit more.
Post on forums and chat rooms – remember don’t go for the hard sell, introduce yourself, help others, et to know them and then over time you will see they will start to make more of an interest in you, what you do and what you have to offer them.
Business cards – these are essential and should always be with you, you never know who you might meet and give a card to.
Leaflets and flyers – Make these yourself or get some printed up at a local printers, hand them out or drop them door to door (in your target area/market).
Have your own website – if you haven’t got one, what are you waiting for, having your own site will allow you to meet new people, and reach new target markets cheaply and easily.
Word of mouth – tell everyone you know about what you do and what you offer and get them to spread the word as well.
Get some personalised work wear/clothing – wear it all the time even when you are doing your grocery/food shopping, plus if you have willing and helpful family and friends get them to wear items of clothing with your business information/contact details on.
Use press/news releases – anytime you have something newsworthy to send out send a press or news release. Make it a one page guide to your business, provide information, contact details and a story and your press release should get picked up.
Please remember that not every method of promotion, marketing and advertising will suit your business, product and needs, weigh up the pros and cons for each method and then try one out, see what results you achieve. If you do not received the desired affects or sales then research implement and try another marketing/promotional method. It is all about trial and error, seeing what works and what doesn’t.
Good luck, I wish you every success.
